
I’ve started to add a number of public events and festivals to my annual calendar of photography. One of my favourites has been the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival, which is a Trade Union organised celebration of some of the early trade unionists who were punished for their organising by being transported to Australia. It’s a classic left-wing event, part inspiring, part eccentric, with lots of dedciated trade union people, and fringe characters. The Sunday is a free event, and includes a march in the street as well as live music.
Sadly, I have to miss the 2025 event this coming weekend, but I did take another look at my photos from last year:
